Concours on Savile Row: Famous London street hosts more than 40 glamorous cars and motorcycles

Bespoke concours event takes on Mayfair street

Claimed to be London’s most stylish car contest, the 2024 edition of ‘Concours on Savile Row’ opens in the Mayfair street famed for its bespoke tailoring this week.

The third edition of the car extravaganza showcases more than 45 eye-catching cars and motorbikes, including a rare Everrati Porsche 964, a 1961 Ferrari 250GT SWB California Spyder and a 2024 Koenigsegg Jesko.

Motorcycles from Kawasaki, Royal Enfield, Triumph, Zero Motorcycles and BMW Motorrad will also be on display, alongside two fully electric bikes, the SRX Concept and CE-02. Running from 10am – 8pm on Wednesday May 22 and Thursday May 23, entry to the event is free.

H. Huntsman & Sons and Hagerty Insurance are presenting a unique insight into a rock legend, in the form of Charlie Watts’ 1939 Lagonda LG6 Rapide, which will be exhibited outside Huntsman. The late Rolling Stones drummer’s suits will be on display inside the tailors.

Good tonight

A personal discussion about Watts will take place in the Huntsman lounge, hosted by automotive expert Simon Taylor, along with Dario Carnera, Head Cutter at Huntsman and Paul Sexton, author of the official Charlie Watts biography, ‘Charlie’s Good Tonight’.

Henry Poole & Co will host two Mercedes-Benz cars, a 1920 Benz Spyder and an S580 Guard, complemented by talks on the luxury car brand - and Savile Row Gin tasting.

The fuselage of Spitfire AA810, the only surviving aircraft linked to any of those involved in the infamous Great Escape, will be exhibited in Gieves and Hawkes, together with a 3D printed model of the Merlin engine that will go into the restored aircraft.

Designed and built specially for the 2024 Concours on Savile Row, this diminutive Austin features a Holland & Sherry interior using a cloth especially designed for the one-off machine.

Norton & Sons are showcasing PPE101 (a Jaguar XK120) alongside a racing kit they designed and made for the car's participation in the Mille Miglia 2024. PPE was owned and raced by Walter Grant-Norton, great-grandson to the founder of Norton & Sons.

Car art

There are also two seminars sponsored by tax and advisory firm Blick Rothenberg, at The Royal Academy of Arts Lecture Theatre: ‘Restoration and Preservation - How Tailors, the Automotive Market, and the Art World Approach Sustainability’ on May 22 and ‘The Future of Fuels: The Road to Zero Emissions’ on May 23. The moderator for both will be Simon Taylor.

Commenting on the seminars, Blick Rothenberg partner Simon Sutcliffe, said: “As the world moves on, we are now looking at how modern fuels will impact not only on the classic car world but how taxes may be levied in the future to sustain road tax and provide benefits to the modern motorist which does not appear to be on the Government’s agenda.”

The CALLUM Skye has its first public appearance, at the concours. Designed and engineered to be exhilarating and rewarding on-road, the all-electric, all-wheel-drive vehicle is also claimed to be highly capable off-road.

Bennett Winch will present fashion model David Gandy’s Jaguar X120 and J.P. Hackett will have a Formula E simulator, while showcasing new collections and whisky tasting with Jenson Button’s Whisky brand, Coachbuilt.

The 2023 Concours on Savile Row drew more than 12,000 visitors. With an even wider range of vehicles this year, organisers are expecting bumper crowds.
